Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Party Rental Equipment

Get your party rental equipment for Cinco de Mayo!

It’s again that time of the year when we all celebrate a popular holiday—Cinco de Mayo! Some of us may celebrate this , why should that stop you in any way from reveling during this holiday?

We’ve gathered some interesting and fun facts about this occasion to help you entertain your guests!

Cinco de Mayo Party Origins

1) Unlike what is common belief, this event has nothing to do with a celebration of Mexican independence. In fact, May 5th is a commemoration of Mexico’s accomplishment in the battle at Puebla (1862) during the Franco-Mexican war. Though outnumbered by the French, the Mexican militia pulled off an unlikely victory!

2) It’s true! The Mexican Army on this day did win the duel but ultimately lost the war to the French. As it happened, the French would go on to occupy the region for the next five years.

A Neighbor in Distress

3) Due to the ongoing Civil War in America, President Lincoln could only sympathize with the plight of the Mexican people. The Us had to wait until the end of the Civil War to lend Mexico a helping hand.

Soon after, the US forced France to withdraw its invading troops from Mexico. This led to the collapse of the French Empire.

4) It’s worth noting that the battle of Pueblo may have altered US history. Back then, as the US struggled to contain the Civil War, the French were eyeing a weakened America. An easy win for the French could have resonated well with the Confederacy. This event could have extended the Civil War.

5) Now, here’s another remarkable detail. This day isn’t a federal holiday in Mexico! Just like St Patrick’s Day, we have taken the celebration from another country! We’ve done an excellent job of it, making Cinco de Mayo a day to enjoy some tantalizing delicacies and drinks.

Do you want to find out what American icon helped make the Cinco de Mayo holiday popular? Guess who, President Roosevelt it is! Right after the signing of the “Good Neighbor” Policy (1933) as a step in augmenting relations with the Latin American region.

6) Holy guacamole! In some states, such as CA, people enjoy large quantities of avocados each year during the Cinco de Mayo festivities!

7) So, where’s the grandest Cinco de Mayo party held? You guessed right… it’s Los Angeles, CA! Other cities also throw some big shindigs, while some even celebrate Cinco de Mayo by organizing Chihuahua races.

8) Sure, Americans love their tacos—as much as their tequila. According to the Daily Meal, US citizens drink twice as much tequila as compared to their Mexican counterparts.

While the battle at Puebla has become a mark of Mexican unity, it’s also a big reason for residents of Tampa bay to celebrate. Yet, this holiday is a grand an opportunity to get your tequila fix.

For you to match the nuances of the celebrations, you’ll have to carry out the Cinco de Mayo party theme! Event rental equipment in Tampa has plenty of fun products to help you find a happy way to enjoy this fun holiday!
