Your New Year’s Eve Wedding Checklist

A Checklist for Your New Year’s Eve Wedding

Having a New Year’s Eve wedding is a wonderful way to get your marriage and 2023 started off with a real bang! Since this is a holiday, however, there’s certain things that you should add to your wedding checklist to make sure that it goes as smoothly as possible.

Start Your Planning Very Early

Although New Year’s Eve doesn’t get as much attention as Christmas or maybe even Halloween, there are obviously many celebrations going on all at once. This means that certain wedding venues may already be reserved for that night. Rentable items like tables, chairs, dinnerware, and flatware may also be a little harder to come by than normal, or certain styles might not be available. Therefore, the earlier you can start planning, the more easily everything will go.

Inform Guests Far in Advance

It’s no secret many people treat New Year’s Eve as a somewhat big holiday and could either have a get-together planned or may want to go bar hopping with friends. If you want everyone on your guest list to be able to attend your nuptials, then you need to start planning very early and inform people as soon as you decide on the date. Just be aware that certain friends and family members might not be able to “save the date.”

Plan for Weather

We’re pretty sure it’ll come as absolutely no shock to anyone reading this that Florida’s weather can be quite temperamental. While New Year’s Eve typically doesn’t succumb to many weather problems in most areas of the state, you can never be too careful. Make sure you stay aware of weather predictions and advise your guests accordingly if temperatures might be out of the norm or if rainfall is expected.

Reserve Tents and Accessories

Regardless of inclement weather, the temperature might drop pretty low on New Year’s Eve. Yet Florida is so gorgeous outside that having an outdoor wedding is often a top priority for the bride and groom. Renting a tent and maybe a few tent accessories, such as heaters and sidewalls, will make the wedding a more private affair and keep everyone nice and cozy.

Hold a Late Night Reception

It goes without saying that you should have a late-night reception, but we’re going to say it anyway. Many of your guests will undoubtedly want to celebrate New Year’s when the clock strikes midnight, and it’s much better if they don’t have to go somewhere after the reception. If you want to make guests happy, you should go all in and keep the reception going far into the night.

Consider Hiring a Wedding Planner

If you want to avoid problems that can often crop up when scheduling a wedding around New Year’s Eve and other holidays, then you should consider hiring a wedding planner. In fact, wedding planners make nuptials a whole lot easier no matter what time of the year you’re getting married. They’ll work closely with you to plan your big day and will deal with everything from wedding dress fittings and guest lists to sending out wedding invitations and renting key equipment.

Renting Items Instead of Purchasing

Organizing any wedding can be a long, arduous process, but holding it on New Year’s Eve can be especially daunting because of the hassle of dealing with busy vendors and finding certain items. You can make it a lot easier on yourself by renting several types of items such as tables and chairs, dinnerware and flatware, concessions, catering equipment, and even wedding items like arches and cake trays. Renting will save you a lot of money, and the items can be delivered to the location by an experienced crew.

Keep the Bar Open After Midnight

We’re all adults here, so let’s just admit that there’s likely to be a lot of drinking during your wedding if you hold it on New Year’s Eve. Your guests will love you even more than they already do if you make at least a couple of drinks free and then provide them with an open bar after midnight. Most importantly, be sure that you offer Uber rides and/or award designated drivers with a special gift to make sure that everyone gets home safely.
